How to Take Care of Your Flak Jacket
The Flak Jacket is another term used for the bulletproof vest. And here are some basic instructions on how to take care of your vest for a long lasting use and sustained protection.
1. A Flak jacket is made up of two key elements – the ballistic panels and the armor carrier. Separate care and use instructions are to be made on these two parts. Extra care should be given to the ballistic panels because they are more sensitive and vulnerable to degradation when exposed to some chemicals.
2. Make sure that your flak jacket fits you right. Right fitting on your flak jacket makes you feel more comfortable and at ease. Comfort is very important because it makes you wear your vest. And actual wearing of your vets is far more important than having the most expensive or best type of flak jacket. The straps of your flak jacket will help you achieve greater comfort also. You can adjust them for more coverage and comfort as long as it will not cause pressure on any part of your body and that there is no over strapping.
3. Inspect your flak jacket regularly preferably before wearing it. This will make you see the changes or damages existing in your vest. It defects or damages exists, contact your manufacturer immediately for the best thing to do. Do not attempt to repair all by yourself or make changes on your flak jacket. Sometimes, this will render the warranty contract null and void. Your manufacturer has the discretion not to repair or replace your flak jacket once there is misuse or neglect on the vest.
4. Always follow the instructions provided or recommended by your manufacturer. These basic care instructions can be seen on the labels attached on the flak jacket or indicated in the packaging. If there are no care instructions provided, it is always safe to ask your manufacturer.
